Ali – Wadi Rum
this newly created base and rest area in the heart of Wadi Rum,
is easily accessed from the main Wadi Rum road (around 55k from
Aqaba and 10k from the desert highway turn off at ‘Ragdia’ ). On
the main bus route to ‘Rum’ or Dissi’, it is well sign posted with
a good road leading to ample car and bus parking next to the rest
The camp and rest area is built in the
Bedouin Arabic tradition blending naturally into its desert
surroundings. Together with its large modern kitchen “Bait Ali” has
traditional Bedouin tented areas, modern showers and toilets: terraced
areas with “zerb oven”, bar facilities and of course plenty of room for
camping, whether in the tents already on site or for motor caravans.
There is a regular evening Arabic
entertainment programmed and lastly, of course full access and help to
all the activities throughout the area…..
Directly linked to the “Bait Ali” rest
area is a purpose built independent horse trekking and camel safari
center, easily accessible to those who would like to see camels first
hand or watch beautiful Arabian horses in their natural setting….
This area offers livery and camping
facilities to any through going groups (with their camels or horses) or
for groups wishing to start or end their tour at “Bait Ali”: for those
who wish to explore Rum on horses or camels, we are ;eased to offer set
treks throughout the area – and not to be outdone; for cycle groups we
offer a splendid ‘waterhole’ with workshop and basic repair
Desert explorer endeavors to give you or
your groups the best and together with the wonderful Jordanian
hospitality, will give you a home away form home….
Or for those wishing a Special occasion
with a difference… Weddings, birthdays promotions…. We will be pleased
to offer “Bait Ali” as a unique and memorable setting!
Together with all the facilities available
at the rest area, we have tried to create a truly Jordanian setting and
actively encourage the continuation of local traditions and crafts….
This together with exceptional views and
the easy accessibility of the base must make this the number one spot to
meet, whether it be for a beautiful traditional evening campfire and
B.B.Q tucked under the small candle lit mountain behind our Bedouin
tents or for the more adventurous Desert Explorers starting out or
returning from a trek or safari.
